Production of the 2025 iPad Pro is reportedly already ongoing as both Samsung and LG began creating displays earlier this month. The new model is scheduled to launch towards the end of the year, and bets are available for October.

However, it is said that the high pricing of the OLED iPad Pro model has blocked many potential buyers last year, and the same is expected to be true this year…

Digitime It quotes a Korean report.

As reported by Zdnet KoreaSamsung Display (SDC) and LG Display (LGD) began mass production of OLED panels for new iPads in June 2025.

Apple usually launched new iPad Pro models in either spring or fall. October is the most common month for fall releases.

However, the research report suggests that sales may be muted.

UBI Research estimates that SDC and LGD will ship a total of 6.3 million OLED panels for iPads in 2024, significantly below the forecast for the first 9 million units.

Analysts point to the lukewarm demand for consumers as a key factor behind the shortage due to the premium pricing of the OLED iPad Pro. Despite the calm performance, OLED panel shipments in 2025 are expected to rival the 2024 level.

Apple’s long-term goal is to switch all The iPad model has now become OLED, just like the iPhone, but it is expected that it will take some time to unfold. The iPad Mini is next in 2026, with the iPad Air expected to follow in 2027.

Another long-term goal is to have a large diversity in Apple’s supply. This is a chain of OLED panels. So far, Apple is expected to equalize supply from Samsung and LG for the first time this year, but plans to introduce Chinese display maker BoE into the mix are reportedly not going well.

BOE continues to face technical hurdles, particularly when meeting the low-temperature polycrystalline oxide (LTPO) OLED display standards required by Apple. Failing to obtain high-quality certification for the LTPO panel for the iPhone 16 Pro, BOE is even more questioning about its readiness to support the demand for iPad grade OLEDs.

The company is expected to resolve the issue in time, but not as fast as either party wanted.
