Netflix Shows Comes to the Apple TV App Integrated Watchlist
update: Unfortunately, it appears someone has jumped over the gun and this development has been cancelled at this time.
It appears that Apple and Netflix have found a common basis and have been able to launch a partnership to integrate it into the Apple TV app. Some users In the US, we are beginning to be asked to connect your Netflix account to the Apple TV app on Apple TV 4K devices.
The Netflix original can then be added to the watchlist within the TV app and appear in surveillance. However, it probably is still being deployed as the integration doesn’t seem to be complete yet.
Apple TV Queue is the flagship feature of the app. On iOS and TVO, the TV app matches all shows you’re watching across apps into one list of upcoming content. Playback progress is also synced, allowing you to be notified when new episodes are dropped. This means you can track ongoing streaming shows across services such as Disney+, Max.
However, Netflix does not support this feature, so their shows are completely removed from this integration. With today’s development, it appears they are finally on board with this initiative.
For users who appear, you can now connect the Netflix app to Apple TV and display original Netflix titles such as Stranger Things and Squid games on your Apple TV Watchlist. However, the playback progress and other details do not seem to work yet.
Given that users are already watching this on Wild, an official announcement from Apple and Netflix about the partnership is probably imminent. (At the time of publication, the official list of Apple’s supported apps has not been updated since March 2024, and Netflix is not mentioned.)
