The new Apple TV+ comedy, The Studio reveals the stress of Hollywood in the trailer
Later this month, Apple faces the major challenges of trying to maintain a TV+ subscriber after its retirement ends. A big card on the sleeve of your company? A new comedy coming to Apple TV+ has been called studio and dropped the full trailer.
The studio is one of Apple’s biggest spring premieres
Among the highlights of Apple TV+’s March release, the studio is at the top of the list. Arrived on AppleTV+ later this month Wednesday, March 26th.
The only other debut that can make a compelling case for a new show at the top is Dope Thief, a crime thriller that will be released next week.
But while the series is related to the threat of crime, the studio stuffs the bottle with a very different kind of stress: the stress of Hollywood filmmaking.
Here’s Apple’s description of the show:
Seth Rogen stars as Matt Remic, the newly appointed director of the newly appointed Continental Studios. As the film struggles to keep it alive, Matt and his core team of looming executives fight against their own insecurity, fighting for narcissistic artists and crazy corporate overlords in their constant pursuit of making great films. Their power suits hide an endless sense of panic, and every party, visit, casting decision, marketing meeting, awards show presents them with the opportunity for glittering success or career-ending catastrophe. As someone who eats, sleeps and breaths movies, it is the job Matt has pursued his life, and it may destroy him very well.
Apple has shared various teasers and clips of the show in the past, but today’s official trailer has debuted.
This is the trailer:

I want to watch the studio as it could be one of the biggest Apple TV+ hits to date.
That said, this latest trailer wonders whether the show’s tone can prevent it from becoming a success. While previous clips and original teasers hit a brighter and more comedic tone, this complete trailer hints at a darker atmosphere.
Of course, dark comedies can be great, but the right balance between comedy and drama, or in this case the stress and anxiety of a comedy show can be challenged. I’m looking forward to seeing what the reviews will think following today’s SXSW premiere.
