With the premiere of retirement season 2 in January, Apple revealed an increase in Apple TV+ subscriptions compared to the previous month. But was Apple TV+ enough to overtake its competitors? Apple TV+ Market Share and Other Streaming Platforms

According to a new survey from JustWatch, Apple TV+’s US market share went from 7% to 8% in the fourth quarter of 2024, covering the January-March month. It was right to say that more and more people subscribe to Apple TV+ during this period, but the increase wasn’t significant at all.

Overall, the first quarter figures remain roughly the same compared to the last quarter of 2024. Amazon Prime Video and Netflix are still battling in first and second place, but Max and Disney+ are behind in a big difference.

Apple TV+ was released in 2019 and has over 300 titles available. This is less than its competitors as Apple focuses solely on the original content.

While Apple TV+ movies and shows have won important awards, a recent report reveals that the platform still brings money losses for the company. Apple is estimated to lose $1 billion a year on Apple TV+. The report also claims that the platform has around 45 million subscribers worldwide.
