Apple TV+ has been striding this year, with great success with Severance, The Studio, Friends & Neighbors. But there’s more around the corner. Three big new Apple TV+ releases are coming soon here.

#1: MurderBot

Apple’s next big sci-fi series is Murder Bot, starring Alexander Skarsgård. The show offers serious franchise possibilities as it is based on a long book series.

Unlike many sci-fi fares, they don’t take that in itself very seriously. It’s a thriller/comedy.

MurderBot’s Apple TV+ debut is here Friday, May 16th. We’ll drop two episodes to get started and release them every week until July 11th.

Here’s a summary of the Apple plot:

Based on Martha Wells’ bestseller Hugo and Nebra Award-winning book series The Murderbot Diaries, Murderbot is a sci-fi thriller/comedy about self-hacking security structures that are terrifying to human emotions but attracted to its vulnerable clients. Murder Bot, played by Skarsgård, hides his free will and all he actually wants is to watch the melodrama of the future and leave it alone to grasp its place in space, and complete the dangerous tasks.

This first season of MurderBot is based entirely on the first book in the series by Martha Wells. All systems are red.

You can get Sneak Peak by picking up books from Apple Books (e-books/audiobooks) or Amazon (Kindle/Paperback).

#2: Young people’s fountain

The Indiana Jones franchise has been in a difficult time, but Apple TV+ has come with its own spin.

Fountain of Youth is a new film that takes clear inspiration from series such as Indiana Jones, National Treasure and more recently Uncharted. It stars John Krasinski and Natalie Portman and directed by Guy Richie.

Premiere of youth directly on Apple TV+ Friday, May 23rd– There are no theatre releases.

Here’s an overview of the Apple movie:

“Fountain of Youth” follows two estranged brothers (John Krasinski and Academy Award-winning Natalie Portman) and find a fountain of youth mythology, a global robbery partner. They must use their knowledge of history to follow the clues of a life-changing epic adventure…and perhaps lead to immortality.

This time last year, the film looked like an Apple weakness after multiple box office failures. However, the transition to more direct streaming films like Gorge and Wolves seems to have proven successful.

The youngster’s fountain appears to have been made for a big screen, but Apple TV+ subscribers can enjoy it from home instead.

#3: Stick

Ted Lasso Season 4 is coming, but Apple TV+ hopes there will be another Lasso-like feel-good show on the stick.

Owen Wilson stars in a new, memorable golf comedy, all in the same notes that beloved Jason Sudeikis hit.

Stick hit Apple TV+ Wednesday, June 4th There will be a new release every week with three episodes until July 23rd.

Here’s a summary of the Apple series:

Owen Wilson stars as Price Cahill. After his marriage collapse and being fired from his job at an Indiana sports goods store, Price hedges his bets and falls to the forefront of the troubled 17-year-old golfer named Santi (Peter Darger). “Stick” is a heartfelt, pleasant sports comedy about the discovered families and their relationships set in the world of golf that has never been shown before.

Ted Lasso’s mainstream success is not something that can be easily replicated. And Apple may be working hard on this.

But if all the ingredients come together, the stick can fill the laso-sized holes in our hearts.
