It’s only been the last few years that Apple began shifting its iPhone cameras to 48MP, but another big leap appears to be on the way. According to a new leak, Apple is working on hitting the camera at 200mp on future iPhone models.

The iPhone camera is planning to jump from 48mp to the 200mp sensor

Every year, Apple releases new iPhones. And each year, one of the upgrades you can expect is camera changes.

The camera has long been one of the iPhone’s most important features, and Apple’s hardware efforts reflect that.

New camera improvements are expected for this year’s iPhone 17 line, including an upgraded 24MP front camera and a new 48MP telephoto for the Pro model.

However, following the Weibo Leaker Digital Chat Station, there is a major leap on the way forward in future iPhone models.

A new post reveals that Apple is working on an upgrade to its 200MP camera on its iPhone.

It is unclear when camera changes will arrive as no particular model is mentioned.

For next year, it’s probably because the new iPhone fold is the target model, so it has a super premium price tag. If that doesn’t happen until later, the 20th anniversary iPhone Pro in 2027 could be another good option.

For many years, Apple has been slow to introduce megapixel changes to its iPhone. The recent upgrade to 48MP came a few years after the competitors. And Samsung has already shipped its own 200MP camera, debuting with the Galaxy S23 Ultra two years ago.

Increased megapixels on a smartphone camera can cause images that are noisy, so you need to see how Apple can mitigate such issues when the 200MP model arrives.
