Tesla officially announces Apple Watch app, now available
Tesla has officially announced and revealed its upcoming app for Apple Watch, and it’s available now.
First, the official Tesla app on the Apple Watch acts as a lock, flank opener, and climate control activator. The watchOS app also displays the battery charge level independently of your iPhone.
Particularly useful for Apple Watch users is the first feature, Key Access. While the iPhone has always been key, it’s common to leave it in the car while working out with your Apple Watch. An upcoming Clock app will allow that functionality without leaving your car unlocked.
Tesla announced the Apple Watch app as part of this year’s holiday update. Other updates for iPhone users include the ability to view and share video footage from the mobile app and the ability to schedule light shows from the iPhone app.
Tesla CEO Elon Musk responded positively about X in March when asked if the company might develop an Apple Watch app. Evidence that this app was actually happening surfaced in October.
The situation is as follows.

The Apple Watch app is out now, but you’ll have to wait for the holiday update from Tesla to reach your car before the major features work.
