Next-generation Apple TV 4K to be released ‘towards the end’ of 2025
Over the weekend, Mark Garman published his first book. power on This year’s newsletter.
In the newsletter, he outlines Apple’s big plans for 2025. What’s in that plan? New Apple TV 4K model.
But Garman is also more specific about when the new model will be released.
The next generation Apple TV 4K is “Scheduled to be released towards the end of the year”
Apple typically makes some big announcements in the fall.
- New models of iPhone, Apple Watch, and AirPods will be released in September
- In October, we’ll be focusing on Macs and possibly iPads and other products.
In 2024, Apple eschewed the traditional event format for Mac announcements and instead unveiled the first M4 Mac over three days.
These new Macs shipped to customers in early November.
According to Gurman’s report, the new Apple TV 4K should arrive in October or November.
The timing of the announcement may be October, but as with new Macs, there’s always a chance it won’t actually ship until November.
This would prove that almost exactly three years have passed since the last Apple TV update.
Features to expect from the new Apple TV 4K
So far, not much is known about what new features Apple has planned for the next-generation Apple TV 4K.
We do know that it will be equipped with a new Apple Wi-Fi modem, which could lead to improved networking with Apple’s growing home device ecosystem.
Other than that, some level of support for Apple Intelligence features is expected.
Most of the current AI features aren’t suitable for tvOS, but at least we should see a new, better Siri.
To enable AI, your Apple TV 4K must have a more powerful chip, such as the A17 Pro or A18, and upgraded RAM.
However, beyond these changes, there are still many unknowns about this update.
