
Apple TV+ maintains ‘modest’ market share in the US in Q4 2024
Apple TV+’s market share in the US has remained fairly stable over the past few quarters, at least that’s what JustWatch’s latest research shows. now 9to5 mac Exclusive data on streaming platform market share for Q4 2024 has been confirmed, and Apple’s situation remains stable.
Apple TV+ market share in the US
In the third quarter of 2024, Apple TV+ accounted for 8% of the US market share. However, in the last quarter of this year, the platform lost ground to other platforms, and its market share fell to 7%. While this isn’t a huge decline and is a fairly consistent number considering previous reports, it does show that Apple is still struggling to compete with larger companies.
JustWatch points out that Apple TV+ is still considered a “second choice” for most viewers, as the streaming market is very competitive and most people still prefer big platforms like Netflix and Max. I’m doing it.
“In 2024, Apple TV+ maintained a modest but stable market share compared to its competitors, lagging behind larger platforms such as Prime Video, Netflix, Hulu, and Max. “Despite its performance, it struggled to close the gap with Paramount+ and fell well short of Disney+’s momentum at the beginning of the year,” the report said.
As usual, the first and second place in the ranking is contested by Amazon Prime Video and Netflix respectively. Max comes in third with 13%, followed closely by Disney+ with 12% of the US market share.

Apple TV+, which launched in 2019, has around 300 titles available, which is far fewer than its competitors. That’s because Apple’s platform focuses solely on original content. Over the years, several of Apple’s original movies and shows have been nominated and won significant awards, but the competition is stiff.
During the first weekend of 2025, Apple promoted Apple TV+ by offering everyone free access to the platform for a limited time. However, we will have to wait until the next quarter to see if this campaign has paid off for Apple.
