Apple yesterday said that iOS 26 was the biggest update to the iPhone’s look and feel since iOS 7, with the same visual design language being used on all company devices.

It certainly is a rather dramatic change depending on how much you want to see. For example, in addition to the “Color” option obtained in iOS 18, there is a new “Clear” option that creates all app icon monochrome glass.

Like the shade, I have to wonder how many people actually use it, but that’s certainly an interesting take on what happens when you dial the glass look on Max!

As before, in the blank section of the home screen, display the Edit button up button, then press Customize to display this menu.

Choose Clear and that’s what you get.

However, you do not need to change the default appearance to see the glass elements. Check out the Apple app icons with new subtle 3D effects.

On the home screen:

And in the folder:

Apple doesn’t seem to have led third-party developers to collapse for the first developer beta, as the other icons appear to have not been changed.

Notifications have a frost appearance in the glass.

The Camera app simplifies the default UI, which only has photo and video options.

Tapping and hold allows access to the rest.

At the top there is a simple configuration display showing what’s currently.

Tap this to expand to a tapable control panel.

Other apps take the same approach as those that expand as needed.

Of course, the tab bars that float in content have a consistent look across the app.

Of course, this is the first developer beta and there are many changes, but what was your first impression of the appearance? Share your thoughts in the comments.
