Can it detect temperature through walls?

It depends on its ability to block infrared radiation. Usually walls block most of the radiation, so it is difficult for it to detect the temperature of objects behind it.

Why does it make a clicking sound ?

Because it automatically adjusts the image and the level of infrared radiation it receives based on the ambient temperature, this mostly happens when it is just powered on. It does not damage the device and does not affect its normal operation.
