PSA: Sky Blue USB-C for MacBooks can now be purchased from Magsafe 3 Cable
The new generation MacBook Air with the M4 chip comes in a new “Sky Blue” colour, and to match tradition, the laptop comes with a trace charging cable that matches the colours of choice by the consumer. However, even if you don’t plan on purchasing a new M4 MacBook Air, you can still put your Sky Blue USB-C in a MagSafe 3 cable.
MagSafe 3 cable from Apple’s USB-C is now available in new colors
The new Sky Blue Cable was added to Apple’s online store shortly after the launch of the M4 MacBook Air this morning. Apple sells it as a replacement in case the cables on your Mac are lost or damaged, but some buy new charging cables in different colors to create a new combination.
The same USB-C to MAGSAFE 3 cable can be used not only with M2 MacBook Air and later, but also with Apple Silicon MacBook Pro, which features a Magsafe port (M1 Pro and later).
Unlike the rather dark midnight, Sky Blue is a much lighter shade of blue. Apple describes the new colour as “a beautiful, metallic light blue that creates a dynamic gradient when light reflects off the surface.” The first actual photo of Sky Blue’s new M4 MacBook Air shows that the blue is very subtle and greyed in response to the light.
Apple’s USB-C to Magsafe 3 cable is 2 meters long and costs $49. In addition to Sky Blue, cables are also available in Space Grey, Midnight, Starlight, Black and White. Note that the cable does not come with a power adapter, so you will need to use your own power source.
