T-Mobile has been testing beta versions of its T-Satellite service with its customers for several weeks. Starting next month, the beta period will begin to decline as satellite connections officially begin as paid services. T-Mobile has also announced a time when it will expand its service’s inclusion of data beyond text messaging support, beyond commercial launches.

First, T-Mobile will be launching the T-Satellite commercially on July 23rd. T-Satellite relies on SpaceX Starlink satellites for network coverage in areas that become dead zones for T-Mobile customers. T-Mobile provides T-Satellite services to carrier customers. To use this feature, you must use a free unlocked SIM or ESIM slot on your compatible smartphone.

For now, T-Satellite is limited to sending text messages over satellite connections when they are disconnected from traditional service networks. Starting October 1, T-Mobile has said it will enable data connections through T-Satellite, with carriers working with Apple and others on satellite-optimized apps.

To ensure the best possible experience for satellite customers, T-Mobile works with the selection group of the most widely used best application providers in the category most important for those traveling in unknown parts. It enables satellite-enabled apps such as Accuweather, Alltrails, Apple, Google, WhatsApp, X, and more. App developers interested in how to optimize their apps for satellite data can email satelliteapps@t-mobile.com.

Although it is free in beta period, T-Mobile shares the latest prices on its launch.

T-Satellite with T-Mobile experience beyond T-Mobile experience is included at no additional cost. For everyone else, including AT&T and Verizon customers, the service is available for just $10 a month. Upon launch, it includes 911 text messages via satellite. Later this year, T-Satellite will provide 911 text messaging services to mobile customers using compatible devices, regardless of whether they are subscribed to the carrier or service. Because everyone deserves peace of mind when they’re off the grid.
