Ted Lasso Season 4, like the return of a dead cat, says Brett Goldstein: “We’ve buried it.”
Ted Lasso was officially renewed last month for Season 4 after months of rumors and signs that the show will actually return with the new season of Apple TV+. Now star and author Brett Goldstein shared the latest updates on season 4 status and explained what it would be like to see the show revived.
Goldstein shares Ted Lasso Season 4 status and the story of the Returned Cat
Brett Goldstein was interviewed with Rachel Martin as the latest episode of NPR’s Wild Card Podcast.
In the episode, he gives you an update on where things stand in the work of Ted Lasso Season 4.
Martin:Where are you in the process?
Goldstein: In the writer’s room at the moment… that’s obviously everything I can tell you, I’m afraid.
Before Apple announced the official Ted Lasso return, the sign pointed to the start of spring production for the new season. But these days, it appears that Summer will be a production kickoff instead.
It’s right now that Goldstein and the other writers are in the writer’s room.
The interview also includes an interesting anecdote from Goldstein, about how it feels to bring back the show at first glance in season 3.
That’s strange. It’s like having a friend I went to college with. I think about this a lot. He had a dead cat… he loved his cat, the cat ran away, they buried the cat, buried it, and he was his child. They buried the cat in the garden, he lay in a bed so sad, upset and crying, he prayed, he prayed, and he prayed, I wanted the cat to come back, and it turned out that the cat they buried was not their cat.
And then the cat comes back and I’m always thinking about it… they buried another cat…
I think I’m saying I feel like that kid. Similarly, we filled it up. We all cried. There was a funeral. Are you saying we can get something back?
It’s clear that Goldstein and the rest of the creative team really believed Ted Lasso was over when Season 3 ended. But after many wishes and hopes over the years, it is now back.
Sometimes you just have to believe.
